As an accredited Certification Body and Validation and Verification Body (VVB), CERES performs independent conformity assessments for companies, project developers and standard owners in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065, ISO/IEC 17029, ISO 14065, ISO 14064-3 and ISO 14066.

What are Validation and Verification?

Verification confirms that reported greenhouse gas reductions, removals or carbon removal quantities have actually been achieved and are supported by objective evidence.
Independent assessment provides transparency and confidence and supports the recognition of climate and carbon removal claims by registries, buyers, investors and other relevant stakeholders.
Biochar Certification
Biochar is a core area of expertise for CERES. We certify biochar producers under the European Biochar Certificate (EBC) and the World Biochar Certificate (WBC) and assess conformity with the applicable requirements for production, product quality and traceability.
Validation and Verification of Biochar Carbon Removal
Building on our extensive experience in biochar certification, we validate and verify C-Sink projects across the carbon removal value chain.
CERES operates as an independent Validation and Verification Body (VVB) for internationally recognized carbon removal standards, including the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard, Global Artisan C-Sink Standard, Global Tree C-Sink Standard and Global Construction C-Sink Standard.
