Global Construction C-Sink Standard

The Global Construction C-Sink Standard verifies buildings and civil engineering works that contain biomass-derived C-Sink Materials, such as wood, hemp, straw or biochar.

The standard ensures the traceability of biomass-derived carbon from biomass production through the production of Construction C-Sink Materials to their incorporation into the construction. It also accounts for the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the production and transportation of the embedded C-Sink Materials.

Each verified construction is considered a C-Sink Unit and can be registered in the publicly accessible Global C-Sink Registry, provided that the relevant GHG emissions have been offset.
The stored carbon is tracked through endorsed digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) systems, ensuring that each C-Sink can be precisely located and verified within the construction.
